Waggin’ Wednesday: Meet This Handsome Southern Guy!

Moose is a big happy hound! Originally, Moose came from Tennessee. He’s now looking for a new home, where he’ll get plenty of walks and chances to use that big hound sniffer. Like most hounds, Moose will follow his nose if given the opportunity, so he’ll need to be either on leash or in a fenced yard when outside. He loves toys, especially those big tennis ball material covered squeaky toys (he has been a big fan of a squeaky kong tennis football).

While we don’t know what (if any) experiences Moose may have had in a home, he does appear to keep his kennel clean here so he may have a jump start on house training. Since he likely missed out on some early socialization, Moose is a bit timid of new people upon first meeting. Once he’s had a chance to sniff you, he makes friends quickly. He can be jumpy on occasion, so he’d do best without young children who would likely end up knocked to the floor. Moose is friendly meeting other dogs, and may enjoy a canine companion in his new home. He is far, far too interested in cats, bunnies, and other similar critters to safely live with them.

This handsome guy is food motivated and willing to learn. When he arrived, Moose didn’t know any commands. Since then, he’s been mastering “sit” and is making a start on “down.” He’d love to learn more with his new family, and would be a great candidate for obedience classes.

Moose is a great guy with a lot of potential – he is a gentle soul just waiting for a family to give him a chance to learn to be a great pet.
