Annual Hydrangea Festival to Bloom Across Cape Cod in July

BREWSTER – Sponsored by the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, the Hydrangea Festival takes place across Cape Cod from July 7-16.

The festival is a garden tour that supports non-profits, including the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History’s KidSummer scholarship programs.

The gardens supporting the museum are “Tranquil Labyrinth among the Gardens” on July 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., “Serendipitous Hideaway” on July 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the “Lyn Peabody Wildflower Garden” on July 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tickets are $5 per person, per garden and all of the gardens are in Brewster.

The 7-circuit labyrinth is 15 years in the making and other gardens along the walk feature a butterfly garden, a purple weeping beech arbor leading to a fragrant garden and glacial outcroppings.

The Serendipitous Hideaway is located on the historic site of a former old Bell System phone switching station.

Inspired by classic Romantic English gardening, the landscape features varieties of native plants and grasses, trees, shrubs and vines.

The Lyn Peabody Wildflower Garden was established by the Nauset Garden Club in 1987.

Annually, the Club adds new native plants and bushes to the garden and plan to establish a new part of the garden this year through a generous gift from a former gardener at the Club.
