2 Escape Centerville Fire

CENTERVILLE – Firefighters braved frigid temperatures early Sunday morning to knock down a blaze at a Centerville home.

Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills firefighters were called to 59 West Terrace around 1 a.m. to find a heavy fire showing from the front door and several windows of the one-story residence.

The two occupants of the home escaped unharmed, according to Fire Captain Sean Greene.

Crews extinguished the blaze quickly and conducted an extensive overhaul of the residence.

Greene said the cause of the fire remains under investigation but that it appears to be accidental.

Mutual aid support was provided by Hyannis, Barnstable, Cotuit, West Barnstable and Mashpee Fire Departments.

Barnstable police and DPW crews also assisted at the scene.
