A Steam Driven Art Show By Nauset Students Starts Saturday

ORLEANS – Nauset Regional Middle School students are hosting an art show with pieces they made out of recycled materials.

“A Steam Driven Art Show”, presents the connection between STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and ART as young people study the environment.

The opening reception for the show is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Orleans Chamber of Commerce.

It will run until Sunday, June 19.

The school’s art department brought local artists and business owners together in the winter to create projects around sustainability.

School officials say that the students have created a range of projects that not only give a creative take on environmental issues important to them as well as active ways for the public to get involved with.

Projects include vertical gardens made from recycled materials to keep nitrogen rich fertilizer out of the water system.

Last year’s installation centered around ocean debris.

Donors for the exhibit include the Orleans Cultural Council, Friends of Pleasant Bay, Cape Cod Five Foundation and the Nauset Garden Club.
