ACLU Kicks Off Grassroots Movement on the Cape

BARNSTABLE – The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is launching a new grassroots initiative and a kick-off meeting will be held Friday evening at the Unitarian Church of Barnstable.

“People Power” is expected to mobilize the number of volunteers who have joined the ACLU since Election Day last year.

The meeting in Barnstable will include the viewing of a livestream video from the ACLU outlining their action plans, followed by a brief planning session.

The ACLU is a national organization of lawyers and citizens who draft legislation and lead lawsuits to defend the rights to freedom of expression, protecting women’s health and forwarding the causes of equality to all under the constitution.

The forum begins at 6:30 at the Unitarian Church of Barnstable.
