NANTUCKET – With the average price of a home on Nantucket in the $750,000 range, affordable housing is at a serious premium on the island.
Housing Assistance Corporation is the process of building affordable homes to help address the situation, according to HAC CEO Rick Presbry.
Presbry says the goal is to get the project under way in the near future.
“There are going to be forty houses there from one to three bedrooms. We will start construction probably in April with maybe a model home before that. Four of the 40 houses will be built by Habitat and we will build 36.”
Prices for the homes will range from about $200,000 to $500,000.
