Airport, Herring Cove Beach Projects Approved in Seashore

The National Park Service has given the go-ahead to two major projects within the Cape Cod National Seashore.

The Provincetown Airport Commission’s master plan for upgrading the Provincetown Municipal Airport includes 12 separate projects. Among those are expanding the parking lot, building a larger terminal building and improving taxiways and lighting.

Also given a green light are improvements at Herring Cove Beach’s north parking lot. The current lot, which has been frequently damaged by storms, will be replaced by a new lot 125 feet inland. The new lot will have 200 spaces and be constructed about 15 feet above mean sea level to help protect it from the elements.
