Annual Monster Shark Tournament to Honor Long-Time Vineyard Fixture

NEW BEDFORD – A long-time fixture on Martha’s Vineyard will be remembered as part of an upcoming fishing tournament in New Bedford.

The 31^st Annual North Atlantic Monster Shark Tournament will be held in honor of Captain Steven James, who died in a hunting accident in 2014. James organized a similar event on the Vineyard for many years.

This year’s tournament is planned for July 14 and 15 at State Pier 3 – Fishermen’s Wharf in New Bedford.

The non-profit event aims to fund sustainable fishery efforts and fishermen’s advocacy projects.
