AQUINNAH – The town of Aquinnah hopes to take the next step in its plan to move the Gay Head Lighthouse, which is threatened by erosion.
Officials will ask voters tonight at special town meeting to fund the purchase of two parcels of land near the light, where they eventually hope to move the structure.
The total cost of the purchase is $590,000; the town would plan to borrow $300,000 while using community preservation act funds for the remaining amount.
Residents will consider a total of 7 warrants.
