Lost & Found Camera

WELLFLEET – A camera and its pictures have been returned to a local family years after the camera was found damaged in the parking lot of a Wellfleet artist’s gallery.

Steve Swain, the owner of the Frying Pan Art Gallery in Wellfleet, came across a broken, beat-up and run-over camera in the gravel parking lot of his gallery.

Swain didn’t think anything on the camera was salvageable, but kept it just in case.

Recently he cleaned up the camera and was able to retrieve several pictures.

The story, posted Thursday here on CapeCod.com, was noticed in several Facebook posts by people who knew the family of Harwich  Deputy Police Chief Thomas Gagnon. Within hours, they were able to connect the camera to the family members.

The family said the pictures were of a relative who had since passed, and they were the last taken of him.
