HYANNIS – The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod has selected three local artists for their 2017 Fellowship.
The organization selected Julia Cumes of Brewster, Jordan Renzi of Orleans, and Provincetown’s Myra Slotnick for the honor from a number of diverse applicants, whose work crossed many artistic mediums.
Cumes, who grew up in apartheid-era South Africa works primarily photographing women and girls, and was selected as a Visual Arts Fellow. She has had her pictures featured in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and National Geographic.
Renzi was recognized for her work in the performing arts as a singer and songwriter. She has performed with the Dropkick Murphy and been voted female vocalist of the year by Limelight Magazine.
Finally, Slotnick, a Written Word Fellow, has worked for years as a playwright. Her productions have been shown across the country with her first full-length play “The Weight of Water” premiering at Provincetown Theater in 2011.
In only its third year, the AFCC’s Fellowship Program provides support to Cape Cod artists that are making an impact through their creative work. Applicants are judged by an anonymous jury, with each of this year’s fellows receiving $1,500 to use to further their artistic vision.
