Assembly of Delegates To Hold Emergency Budget Meeting

barnstable county symbolBARNSTABLE – The Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates will hold an emergency meeting Friday to take a vote on the Barnstable County budget.

In an unusual move, the assembly voted a budget earlier this week that was about $75,000 short of the budget submitted by the County Commissioners. Part of the money fund the county’s Information Technology Department.

County Commissioner Mary (Pat) Flynn said the vote in which the budget was amended to take out the money took the commissioners by surprise.

If the assembly reaffirms their vote, the county commissioners will need to determine where to cut the dollar amount from the budget.

The assembly is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. Friday on the budget.
