HYANNIS – Community Development Block Grant applications are being accepted by the Barnstable Growth Management Department for the next fiscal year.

The grant program is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide affordable housing, economic opportunities and suitable living environments for low and moderate income residents.

Project submissions should address the creation or preservation of affordable housing or economic opportunities, improvements to public facilities or services to low income and special needs populations.

Submissions that address needs in the Downtown Hyannis Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area may be given preference.

The available funding is expected to be just under $275,000 as estimates are based on last year’s funding levels. The estimated amount available for Public Service activities is about $48,000.

Letters of interest must be submitted to the Growth Management Department by 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 23. Instructions on completing the letter of interest can be found at www.townofbarnstable.us/CDBG.

Applicants are encouraged to make submissions by email to [email protected] with “CDBG LOI” in the subject line.

They can also be mailed to: Kathleen Girouard, CDBG Coordinator, Growth Management Department, 367 Main Street, 3rd Floor, Hyannis, MA 02601.
