Barnstable Citizen Leadership Academy to Examine Municipal Workings of the Town

Barnstable Town Manager Mark Ells

BARNSTABLE – The 11-week Barnstable Citizens Leadership Academy will meet Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and examine each of the town’s municipal departments.

Town Manager Mark Ells said it is a way for residents and property owners to understand what their tax dollars pay for, what services the town offers, and at what level the town operates those services.

“If there’s a class of 30, 30 of them have said to me, ‘I had no idea the town offered this many services entities as large and complex as they are,’” he said.

There are still some openings for the classes. They will last from January 31st until Mid-April.

Ells said the town hopes to have the roster full by early in the New Year.

There is a waiting list available should the classes fill up.
