HYANNIS – The Barnstable Democratic Town Committee is hosting a forum for immigrants on Wednesday, June 7.
“Immigrants On the Cape and Islands: Their Journeys, Contributions and Our Shared Future”, will be held at 7 p.m. at the Barnstable Senior Center.
The forum is free and open to the public regardless of political party affiliation.
“Since the Pilgrims landed in Provincetown Harbor in November, 1620, Cape Cod has been a haven for immigrants,” said Town Committee Chair Sean Caughey. “The purpose of this forum is to provide information on current day immigrants, their place in the life of our community and the successes, challenges and injustices of their journeys.”
There will be a panel discussion and a question and answer session following the presentations.
Panelists include Coordinator of the Immigration Resource Center of the Community Action Committee of the Cape and Islands Collin Mickle, Brazilian native Carlos Barboza and Liza Ryan with the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition.
