Barnstable PD Arrests Man for OUI After Car Strikes Pole, Rolls Over

PoliceBARNSTABLE – Barnstable Police arrested a Barnstable man for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol after he struck a utility pole and rolled his car on Route 6A early Saturday morning.

A Yarmouth Police Officer witnessed a Volkswagen Jetta traveling around 80 mph near the Cape Cod Cooperative Bank on Route 6A.

The Yarmouth officer located the vehicle on its roof in Barnstable on Route 6A near Bone Hill Road around 1:50 a.m. and notified Barnstable Police.

According to Barnstable PD Sgt. Mark Cabral, the Jetta apparently struck a utility pole, snapping it, then rolled over onto its roof.

Timothy Lavallee, 21, of Barnstable, was arrested for OUI and negligent operation.

Cabral said Lavallee did not sustain any injuries during the accident, but the car was most likely totaled.

Verizon repair crews are on scene to replace the pole, which police said should be finished by 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
