BARNSTABLE – Barnstable Police say they will continue with surveillance on four businesses in town they believe are fronts for prostitution.
All four were closed down for lack of licenses after being visited by authorities on Friday.
Barnstable Detective Sergeant Mark Mellyn said police, along with federal, state and town officials conducted raids on the establishments on Friday.
The businesses were closed down because of lack of board of health licenses needed for massage parlors.
The businesses bill themselves as conducting “Asian body work,” which does not require licensing.
Police also had issues with people living in the same area where business is conducted and the immigration status of workers at the businesses.
Although no arrests were made, Mellyn is warning establishments that any illegal activity will result in a criminal investigation.
