Barnstable Public Schools Holds Third Public Forum for Later Start Times

HYANNIS – The largest school district on the Cape is exploring the idea of later start times for high school students and is holding their third community forum today.

Barnstable Public Schools is hosting the event at 9:30 a.m. at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center.

The School Start Time Committee recommended that all elementary schools maintain their current schedule, but Barnstable High would adjust times to 8:15-2:50.

There would also be two 4th-7th grade schools created at Barnstable Intermediate School and Barnstable United Elementary School, with adjusted start times at 7:20-1:50.
