Beach Season Winding Down

Cape-Cod-DunesABARNSTABLE – As the summer winds down, area beaches are losing life guards as they head back to school, and managers of the beaches are beginning to assess the season’s success.

Patty Machado is the director of leisure services, she says the beaches in Barnstable had plenty of visitors this year.

“Revenues have been good, I’m not sure where they will end up, we will know more by Labor Day.”

“But we’ve had a good summer, we’ve  had a safe summer which is the most important thing.”

Machado is hoping to keep that good safety record going through the last couple of weeks of the season and reminds beachgoers never to swim alone.
