Ron Beaty of West Barnstable, a self-described Tea Party Activist who led an effort last spring for Cape towns to withdraw from the Cape Cod Commission, won the Republican primary and will face State Senator Dan Wolf in the general election.
WEST BARNSTABLE – Ronald Beaty, the candidate who lost his bid for a seat on Barnstable’s Old King’s Highway Historic District Committee last week, is now asking that the election be nullified.
He is also filing a complaint with the Barnstable Human Rights Commission.
Last week after the election, Beaty wrote a letter complaining about irregularities with the election but stated that he would not be challenging the results.
But a couple of days later, that changed when he filed additional letters with Barnstable Town Clerk Ann Quirk and with state election officials.
He has also contacted the Barnstable Human Rights Commission, stating that his rights were violated based on what occurred during the election.
He said the voters were not able to conduct their votes in a way that ensured privacy and that they were not able to vote without people trying to influence their vote.
His letter to state officials states, “Due to these heinous violations of the Massachusetts Voters’ Bill of Rights, in conjunction with all of the previously noted serous problems, legal violations, and voting irregularities that transpired at the election in question, it is hereby formally requested that you seriously consider the immediate and official nullification of the November 25th election and its results, and that a new election be called and scheduled at a future date with all of the stated problems and violations being corrected beforehand.”
