Beaty Issues Endorsement in Cape and Islands State Senate Primary

Ron Beaty of West Barnstable, a self-described Tea Party Activist who led an effort last spring for Cape towns to withdraw from the Cape Cod Commission, won the Republican primary and will face State Senator Dan Wolf in the general election.

BARNSTABLE – The 2014 Republican nominee for Cape and Islands State Senate has issued an endorsement ahead of the GOP state senate primary this September.

Ron Beaty is throwing his support behind Jim Crocker, one of two candidates for the party’s nomination. Anthony Schiavi is also running.

“It is my contention that the Cape Cod and Islands would be best served with Jim Crocker as its duly elected representative to the Massachusetts State Senate,” Beaty said in a statement.

Beaty, who is running for a seat on the Barnstable County Commission, cites Crocker’s experience in small business as one of the reasons for his endorsements.

“Jim Crocker is the candidate that opposes new taxes on Cape Codders. He understands that government at all levels must function and operate within its means without continuously becoming a burden upon taxpayers and residents,” Beaty said.

State Senator Dan Wolf is not seeking re-election. Sheila Lyons and Julian Cyr are seeking the nomination for the Democrats.
