EASTHAM – The town of Eastham chose a new town administrator last month and Jackie Beebe says she is excited to take over the top spot.
Beebe, who has served as assistant town administrator since 2014, beat out 19 other candidates for the position, including the other finalist Timothy King, the current town administrator in Westport.
She has previously worked as the director for both the Dennis and Wellfleet Councils on Aging, and served as a Wellfleet selectman.
Beebe said she is honored to be following current Town Administrator Sheila Vanderhoef.
“I’m very excited and I look forward to the challenge ahead,” he said.
She said the main challenges facing the town are keeping the municipal water system project on track and keeping the tax rate steady.
Beebe said she felt the town of Eastham was a perfect fit as soon as she arrived and that it was important for her to stay.
“I wanted this job very badly because I want to stay in this community and I want to finish my career here, if possible,” Beebe said.
Vanderhoef retires in March after 25 years of service.
