Blue Rock Golf Course Helps to Provide Thanksgiving Dinners for Local Families

turkey-shootSOUTH YARMOUTH – The Blue Rock Golf Course in South Yarmouth recently hosted their 12th annual Turkey Shoot-Out and Food Pantry Drive, joining forces for the fifth year in a row with Create the Good.

Create the Good is a local non-profit started in 2010 by a group of Yarmouth parents to place a food pantry in every Dennis-Yarmouth school.

During the two-day event, 150 golfers participated as $1,400 from their entry fees were donated to Create the Good.

Most of the 36 golfers who won turkeys through contests donated them back to the Thanksgiving efforts.

Golfers, staff and volunteers brought canned goods and non-perishable food items to the pro shop as volunteers created Thanksgiving Dinner bags.

About 120 turkeys were donated from the community, allowing volunteers to create full Thanksgiving dinners for 80 local families in need.
