BOURNE – An out-of-court settlement between the Town of Bourne and Christopoulos Realty and Investments stipulates that a vacant building along Main St. in Buzzards Bay will be demolished by the end of January.
The Christopoulos Block sits across from the Bourne Fire Department, was recommended for demolition following an inspection in the fall, and brings to an end more than a decade of talks to try and revitalize the once bustling property.
“There have been many plans discussed in the last 10-12 years by both the town and the property owners along that strip of Main St. to rehab that and bring in both business space and residential space,” said Steve Mealy, Bourne Selectman.
Once torn down, any plans for the property will have to tae into account that the site is in a floodplain, and as of now, the future plans for the site are undetermined.
