Buzzards Bay Coalition Wants You to Learn to Quahog

FAIRHAVEN – The Buzzards Bay Coalition wants you to “Learn to Quahog” on Saturday, August 19 from 12-1:30 p.m. at Round Cove in Fairhaven.

Learn how to harvest your own quahogs from Buzzards Bay with the Buzzards Bay Coalition at Round Cove on West Island in Fairhaven.

Coalition educators will teach you the basics of local quahogging – what you need, how to do it, and where to go.

This will be a fun and educational event for the whole family.

The Coalition will provide rakes, peck baskets, and some waders for you to use.

If you have participants have their own rake, waders, or other quahogging equipment, feel free to bring it.

The Coalition suggests that you wear clothing and shoes that can get wet and sandy, as we will be wading into the water up to our waists.

This is a catch-and-release event unless you have a Fairhaven shellfish permit.

The Buzzards Bay Coalition is a membership-supported nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration, protection, and sustainable use and enjoyment of our irreplaceable Bay and its watershed.

The Coalition works to improve the health of the Bay ecosystem for all through education, conservation, research, and advocacy.
