Cahoon Hollow Beach in Wellfleet Reopens to Swimming

Wellfleet Newcomb Hollow - Cahoon Hollow BeachesWELLFLEET – A Wellfleet Beach that had been closed to swimming since Saturday due to high levels of bacteria reopened Tuesday afternoon.

A retest of water taken by the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment at Cahoon Hollow Beach on Monday came back clean, according to Wellfleet Beach Administrator Suzanne Grout Thomas.

Water samples taken by the county failed last Tuesday and Friday.

The high levels of coliform was most likely caused by seal feces.
