Call for Arts and Crafts Vendors for 2017 Wellfleet OysterFest

WELLFLEET – Wellfleet SPAT, Shellfish Promotion & Tasting, Inc., is a non-profit organization devoted to sustaining Wellfleet’s aquaculture and shellfishing industries.

SPAT produces the Wellfleet OysterFest and other programs to fund a college scholarship program, community grant awards and other important initiatives.

In 2016, SPAT awarded $23,000 in relief funding to shellfishermen in response to losses they suffered due to a closure of Wellfleet harbor.

To date, SPAT has reinvested over $406,000 in the local community.

Fine Art and Craft applications are now being accepted for the 17th annual Wellfleet OysterFest in the categories of ceramics, fiber arts wearable and non-wearable, glass, jewelry, metalsmithing, mixed media, painting, printmaking, photography, specialty foods and wood.

The OysterFest will be held on October 14 & 15, 2017, from 10 am to 5 pm.

Through a competitive blind jury process, approximately 80 artists will be chosen to exhibit in this fall show.

Jurors are members of the arts community on Cape Cod and beyond and are not affiliated with SPAT.

The Wellfleet OysterFest is a two-day family festival that celebrates the town’s famous oysters, clams and shellfishing traditions.

The event attracted nearly 20,000 attendees last year and features something for everyone.
