Cape Air To Pick Up Freight Deliveries Following Competitor’s Demise

KA_Hyannis_Barnstable Airport Planes06111315HYANNIS – When Island Airlines unexpectedly shut down on December 11, 2015, it left officials at Barnstable Municipal Airport scrambling to fill the passenger and freight void between Hyannis and the Islands left by the sudden closure.

This week Cape Air announced that the airline will lend a hand to fill the void. Cape Air has already increased its passenger schedule between Hyannis and Nantucket.

“The airport itself is very happy that Cape Air stepped up to the plate and were willing to do that for the lost service and our community,” airport spokesperson Katie Servis said.

Cape Air will begin transporting freight on December 30th.
