Cape Cod Children’s Place Celebrates Expansion

EASTHAM – Cape Cod Children’s Place held a ribbon cutting ceremony last week to celebrate a long awaited addition of 1,300 square feet.

The expansion creates space for other organizations that do not have a presence on the lower and outer Cape and deal with issues such as substance abuse and immigration.

“In that space we have a large community room to be accessed by anyone in the community or in the lower and outer Cape that wants to provide services to families and individuals,” said Cape Cod Children’s Place Executive Director Cynthia Horgan.

Since opening in 1995, the non-profit organization is used by 800 local families for a number of services, including parenting support and child care.

Cape Cod Children’s Place provides family support and early education for families on the lower and outer Cape.

The Town of Eastham provided $330,000 in block grants for the addition while fundraising brought in another $350,000.

The organization is still accepting donations to cover $400,000 in construction costs.

“The space here is just beautiful and it’s welcoming and we’re really proud of it,” said Horgan. “It’s a real reflection of the lower and outer Cape and their commitment to families.”
