Cape Cod Commission Hosting Fourth Annual One Cape Conference

HYANNIS – Water quality, housing and infrastructure will the focus of this year’s One Cape Conference, hosted by the Cape Cod Commission.

The two-day event will be held Thursday and Friday at the Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis with the day one session running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Day will two will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Water quality will be the bulk of the day one agenda, with attendees hearing about implementation of nutrient management plans and what the next steps will be; additionally, the commission will share updates to the technologies matrix.

“We’re updating the matrix on the best available information that we have and we’ll continue to do so because we know that if we can use a variety of strategies to address the nutrient problem on Cape Cod, we’ll be able to decrease some of those costs,” said Kristy Senatori, Deputy Director for the Cape Cod Commission.

Housing and infrastructure will be the focus for day two of the conference, and the commission will share the results of its Regional Housing Market Demand Study, developed through the spring by Cane Associates and Economic Policy Research (EPR).

Organizers say this year’s conference envelopes subjects that are not only vital for the future of Cape Cod, but are also intertwined.

“It’s difficult to have a waste water conversation and not tie in the housing discussion and then also the need for increased regional infrastructure,” said Senatori. “It’s difficult to have a conversation about one without talking about the other.”

All sessions are free and open to the public, and registration can be made online at www.capecodcommission.org.
