EASTHAM – After serving as Superintendent of the Cape Cod National Seashore for over 11 years, George Price is retiring in May.

Price made an announcement to the Seashore’s staff and Advisory Commission this week that his last day will be May 5, 2017.

Price has spent 43 years working for the National Park Service.

The 66 year old has been Superintendent at the Cape Cod National Seashore since 2005 and previously served as superintendent for the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area from 1998-2005.

Price and his wife fell in love with the Cape when they first came on their honeymoon over 40 years ago.

“I’ve been very, very fortunate, I consider myself having a blessed career in the assignments that I’ve had and to be here at the Seashore since ’05, is very spectacular,” said Price.

Price added that he will provide the National Park Service with his ideas on what values the next Superintendent should have, but will not be actively involved in the selection process.

“I know it’s time for me to move on and I know that yes, it will be continued to be managed by people that are passionate for sure,” said Price.

Price said that he and his wife have two trips scheduled after his retirement, but will be continuing to live on Cape Cod.
