Cape Cod Writers Center Conference to be held in August

cape cod writers centerHYANNIS – One of the oldest broad-based writer’s conferences in the country will be held for the 54th time this summer in Hyannis.

The Cape Cod Writers Center Conference will be held from August 4 to August 7 at the Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis.

The conference will feature a series of state-of-the-art courses and workshops.

The Executive Director of the Cape Cod Writers Center Nancy Rubin Stuart says the courses offered this year reflect the latest trends in publishing and the skills needed to acquire them for writers of all ages, genders and cultures.

The keynote speaker for the conference is Peter Abrahams, an Edgar-award winning author of thirty five novels. Stephen King called Abrahams his “favorite American suspense novelist.” Some of his works include “Oblivion” and “End of Story.”

Other faculty at this year’s conference include Yale Writing Professor Adam Sexton, children’s book writer Lauren Mills and Colin McEnroe, a humor writer and NPR radio host.

Class topics at the conference cover a wide range and include writing for social change, the graphic novel, promotion on social media and writing magical characters.

Participants will also have an opportunity to practice pitching their books and participate in mentoring sessions with agents and author teachers.
