HYANNIS – The Cape Cod Baseball League and the CapeFLYER are teaming up for a father’s day weekend event.
On Saturday, the Wareham Gatemen will take the train to their game in Hyannis against the Harbor Hawks. The CapeFLYER will offer baseball-themed food and beverages on the ride into Hyannis and is scheduled to arrive at the transportation center at 10:20 am.
A 30-minute reception will follow, where the two teams will meet and interact with fans and local Little Leaguers.
“I know first-hand how memorable the Cape League experience is for fans and players. To offer a free family experience in a centrally-located place on Father’s Day weekend is a true public service,” said Tom Cahir, the Administrator for the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority. “It’s also a great way to kick-off the summer season, which is vital to the regional economy.”
“A train, hot dogs, peanuts, the country’s top college baseball players, and Father’s Day – I can’t think of another place I’d want to be,” said Cape Cod Baseball League Commissioner Paul Galop.
The Gatemen and the Harbor Hawks will play their game at 2 p.m. at McKeon Park.
