Cape Light Compact Formalizes Split from Barnstable County

BARNSTABLE – The Cape Light Compact has formalized the split with Barnstable County.

The official administrative break between both parties will occur at the end of June.

The energy services organization has found a new home at 261 White’s Path Rd at the Pathway Office Park in South Yarmouth.

They move into the new location in mid-June.

“We’ll be in a building with several other social service and non-profit organizations so I think that’s a nice fit for the Cape Light Compact,” said Compact Administrator Maggie Downey.

The Compact and the County signed a termination and transition agreement in December, in order to transition to a new operational structure.

The county has provided administrative functions for the compact as it has served as the organization’s fiscal agent since it was founded in 1997.

Downey said that customers won’t see any change with the switch as it will be done behind-the-scenes.

“There will be no interruption in services from energy-efficiency or power supply, it’s really the administrative tasks that are being transitioned over from the County to the Compact, and that’s going smoothly,” said Downey.

The compact delivers energy efficiency programs, consumer advocacy, electricity supply and green power options for all 21 Cape Cod and Vineyard towns.
