Cape Symphony Celebrates JFK Centennial

HYANNIS – The life and legacy of President John F. Kennedy was celebrated in Hyannis Sunday night with the Cape Symphony’s JFK Centennial Concert.

The event was held in partnership with the JFK Hyannis Museum at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center.

The Symphony performed Leonard Bernstein’s “Fanfare for the Inauguration of John F. Kennedy” and featured songs like “High Hopes,” which was performed by Frank Sinatra on the campaign trail in 1960.

World-renowned cellist Amit Peled played “Song of the Birds”, which was performed at the Kennedy White House in 1961.

There were a number of speakers at the event, including Ted Kennedy Jr., who served as the performance’s honorary chair, and Congressman William Keating.

Caroline Kennedy and Maria Shriver addressed the audience by video.

Today would have been President Kennedy’s 100th birthday.
