Cape Cod’s Regional STEM Network Added to National Initiative

WEST BARNSTABLE – The Cape Cod Regional STEM Network was one of 17 added to the national STEM Learning Ecosystems Initiative.

The initiative works to make impacts on STEM education and workforce development.

The Cape’s regional network, which is hosted at Cape Cod Community College, was chosen for its afterschool and summer program collaborations.

“The College, through its STEM Network, is extremely honored to have been chosen to participate in this very selective group of organizations and individuals working to increase STEM learning outcomes for all young students,” said John Cox, the college’s president.

“We join other highly respected collaborators including the New York City STEM network, and our local partners including the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, in developing new ways of supporting STEM teaching and learning.”

The national initiative now encompasses 54 communities.

Over the last three years the local network has supported more than 260 teachers and hosted over 3,000 students at STEM-focused events.
