CHATHAM – A Chatham man drove his vehicle into the Cumberland Farms at 849 Main Street in Chatham this morning.
The Chatham Fire Department responded to the scene just before 10 a.m. to find the accident caused substantial damage to the building.
The driver was not injured but the vehicle’s airbag did deploy after the breaks let go and the vehicle couldn’t stop after pulling into the parking lot.
Cap. David DePasquale said the vehicle hit the side of the building near the electrical service.
The departments building and electrical inspectors assessed the damage and allowed the building to remain open to business.
Cumberland Farms own building management personnel will assess the damage.
