HYANNIS – The state chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons is calling for new allowances for those who care for aged or infirm patients.
There is legislation pending on Beacon Hill addressing the issue.
The Director of the Mass AARP, Mike Festa, says the bills would allow for additional responsibilities for some care givers.
“They would allow an expansion of the nurse practitioner profession allowing caregivers to work up to the event of their training and experience, it’s a scope of work bill.”
Festa says November is National Care Givers month, there are about one point three million practitioners in the Commonwealth.
