CARVER – Voters in Carver overwhelming passed a propostion 2 and ½ override yesterday to build a new elementary school.
The $50 million facility will replace the aging Governer John Carver School.
The unofficial ballot results were 1,724 in favor and 502 against, roughly a three to one margin.
Taxpayers will pay about $24 million with the state covering the remainder of the costs.
A previous plan for a new school was narrowly defeated at the ballot a few years ago.
