BARNSTABLE – The Fall River Diocese is kicking off the Cape Cod and Islands segment of the 2015 Catholic Charities Appeal.

The Diocese is emphasizing the work of Catholic Charities, thanking supporters for their loyalty, and bringing into focus the impact that Appeal-supported programs are having.

According to the Diocese, Pope Francis continues to remind the faithful of their responsibility to the poor. The Catholic Charities Appeal is commemorating 74 years of service and dedication to the needy of the Fall River Diocese, which includes all of Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the Islands.

Proceeds from the Appeal provide the financial support for the numerous programs, services and agencies sponsored by the Diocese including basic needs assistance, emergency and transitional housing, pastoral ministry to the sick at hospitals, youth ministry, counseling, pregnancy support, advocacy for immigrants, college campus ministry, bereavement support, and more.
