CCYP Launches Power in Numbers Fundraising Campaign

ccypWEST YARMOUTH – Cape Cod Young Professionals recently launched a new Power in Numbers fundraising campaign to strengthen participation in its Giving Circle initiative.

The Giving Circle, which began in 2015 in partnership with The Cape Cod Foundation, calls on CCYP members and the community to pledge monthly donations to be awarded to local nonprofits.

The goal of the campaign is to raise $10,000 in new donations to receive a matching donation from an anonymous donor.

“We are launching this campaign because we really want to see this offer to be realized,” said Anne Van Vleck, the executive director of CCYP. “That would immediately double the amount of money going into the Giving Circle and therefore back into the Cape Community.”

In the first year of the initiative, $10,000 was raised and awarded to five local nonprofit organizations this summer.

The Community Development Partnership and Housing Assistance Corporation were each awarded $2,500.

The partnership will be using the funds to expand its First Time Home Buyer Education program. The HAC grant will be used to support free Housing Consumer Education Center classes.

WE CAN and the YMCA of Cape Cod each received $2,000 in grant funding. The WE CAN grant funding will go towards developing a GROW, Get Results with Others Wisdom, Group pilot program. The group will be learning and sharing experience with six to eight women who are working to strengthen, expand or start a business. The YMCA funds will be used to support the Teen Achievers Program which identifies and helps at risk teens.

Cape Cod Community College also received some of the funds.

“We want people to give back in time and talent, but there really is power in giving back financially if possible and really trying to tap into the philanthropic giving of young people,” Van Vleck said.

The Power in Numbers campaign was announced earlier this month at CCYP’s 11th Anniversary Celebration at the Ridge Club in Sandwich.
