CENTERVILLE – The future of the display at the intersection of Old Stage Road and Route 28 in Centerville remains up in the air, but the display will be allowed to remain, for the time being.

That’s because state and town officials need to determine who actually owns the land.

“There are apparently two plans that demarcate the right-of-ways, or the state property and the town property. Basically, at issue, is which one is correct,” said State Representative Brian Mannal (D-Centerville), who is working to keep the display as is.

“If it is that this is state property and the state does resume enforcement of this removal order, then we’re hoping to work with them and also to file legislation to have the land transferred from the state to the town,” Mannal added.

If that transfer were to happen, the plan would then be to turn the space into an Adopt-a-Spot.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation had previously sent a letter to the owner of the display, Steve Luciani, saying the display must be removed, citing safety concerns.
