Chatham Town Meeting Supports Monomoy Refuge Response

Bare BeachCHATHAM – With the overwhelming support of Town Meeting, Chatham is on its way to issuing a strong response to the federal government’s draft plan for the Monomoy Wildlife Refuge.

At Chatham’s Special Town Meeting this week, voters approved spending $300,000 on the response.

The public has until October 10 to submit comments about the draft plan, including the proposal to annex 717 acres of the refuge as federal land.

Seldin said Chatham is also asking other towns to send letters in support of Chatham’s request to the federal government to leave the acreage under town ownership.
