A local official cautions in interpreting a jobs report released this week by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
A new report on jobs in the renewable energy industry says the number of jobs across the commonwealth now reaches almost 90,000, citing statistics from 2010 to 2014.
Cape and Islands Workforce Investment Board Executive Director David Augustinho says not so fast.
“It’s great that we’ve seen an increase in these so-called green jobs, but I would just caution that this is when our economy was adding jobs across the board, Augustinho said.
According to the Governor’s office, the sector is now a $10 billion dollar industry and accounts for about 2.5 percent of the state’s Gross State Product.
