Coast Guard Flies Pregnant Woman from the Vineyard to Boston

BOSTON –  A Coast Guard crew out of Air Station Cape Cod medically transported a pregnant woman from Martha’s Vineyard Hospital in Oak Bluffs to Boston early this morning.

Watchstanders at the 1st Coast Guard District command center in Boston were notified around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday that a 29-year-old woman was experiencing possible pregnancy complications at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.

An HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft crew safely transported the woman, a family member and an OB-GYN nurse to Boston’s Logan International Airport at 12:30 a.m. today.

EMS crews finished transporting the patient to Massachusetts General Hospital where the baby was delivered by emergency cesarean section.
