Cold Weather Affects Barnstable Beach Sticker Sales

beachHYANNIS – While Memorial Day may be the unofficial start of summer here on Cape Cod, residents of Barnstable are not in summer mode just yet.

Beach sticker sales are down for this year so far, according to town officials.

Patti Machado, the Director of Leisure Services for the Town of Barnstable, said Mother Nature is most likely responsible.

About 22,000 stickers are sold annually. The town has sold roughly one-third of that number so far this year.

Machado says sales should pick up as the weather gets warmer.
