BREWSTER – The Community Development Partnership is wrapping up the summer with their third annual Summer Evening on the Farm event on August 24 at Halcyon Farm in Brewster.
The event features local growers and shellfishermen and participants will have a chance to network with others interested in the local food movement.
“This event is a great way to celebrate the return of farming and the growth of shellfishing creating new businesses that are growing on the lower Cape,” said CDP Executive Director Jay Coburn.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the Bert Jackson Quartet and tickets are $75 for general admission and $30 for kids 15 and under.
Guests can also continue the evening with an intimate farm-to-table dinner at Sunbird Kitchen in Orleans, that starts at 7:30 p.m., where they will learn where the food comes from and how it’s prepared.
“It’s just kind of amazing to look at the farm and see how much food is being produced on one acre here on the Cape,” said Coburn.
Proceeds from both events support the CDP’s work with local farmers and shellfishermen.
The CDP supports an array of programs that strengthen the Lower Cape community, providing greater opportunities for all who live here to thrive.
The CDP works to create affordable homes and help launch entrepreneurs and strengthen local businesses.
The fundraiser has sold out the last two years.
