DENNIS – A new 27-unit affordable housing development will soon be coming to Dennis.
The project, called Melpet Farms, has been in the works for about four years and will consist of one, two, and three bedroom houses.
“We’re looking forward to finally being at the point to put shovels in the ground. We anticipate that it will be a one-year construction process, and marketing for the new units that will be built should be beginning in about six months,” said Housing Assistance Corporation Project Manager Kate Ferrera.
Ferrera said the lack of affordable housing on the Cape should generate plenty of interest in the homes, citing a recent project in Mashpee that drew 112 applications for just 10 units.
