YARMOUTH – The Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee will vote on the upcoming budget at their meeting this week, and the current proposal could mean a significant increase for taxpayers in Yarmouth.
The preliminary $58 million budget for the district increases Yarmouth’s share at a much higher percentage than Dennis. Yarmouth’s portion of the budget is almost $32 million which is 5.8 percent more than last year compared to Dennis’ $16 million share, which is only up 2.3 percent.
The larger increase for Yarmouth is due to a trend of fewer school-aged children coming from Dennis.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Station Avenue Elementary School.
