CHATHAM – Wednesday marks the third day of the Bob Murray Housing With Love Walk, a weeklong cross-Cape journey that raises money for homelessness prevention.

Volunteers are walking nearly 17 miles from Chatham to South Yarmouth after completing a 16 mile trek from Wellfleet to Brewster yesterday. The 100-mile walk began on Monday in Provincetown and will wrap up in Falmouth on Sunday.

The 25th annual event is named in honor of Bob Murray, a longtime Cape Cod housing advocate. It has raised over $4.7 million for local non-profits since its inception in 1993.

The beneficiaries for this year’s event include CHAMP Homes in Hyannis; Chatham Ecumenical Council for the Homeless; Community Development Partnership in Eastham; Harwich Ecumenical Council for the Homeless; Homeless Not Hopeless, Inc. in Hyannis; Housing Assistance Corporation in Hyannis; Homeless Prevention Council in Orleans; and the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Eastham. The Falmouth Homeless Prevention Program, a subsidiary of the Falmouth Housing Corporation in Falmouth.
